Starting from 1 January 2011, all new businesses and companies registered with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) via its BizFile system on or after 1 January 2011, will save at least S$30 for the first year of registration for their first domain name (ending with ".com.sg" or ".sg"). The domain name must be activated within 90 days from the date the business/company is successfully registered with ACRA. Promotion is for a limited period only, so hurry and register now! It is easy to reserve a domain name! You can now easily reserve a domain name (ending with ".com.sg" or ".sg") at the same time when you register a business (including limited liability partnership and limited partnership) or company in Singapore electronically with ACRA via its BizFile system. The domain name you have selected will be reserved and must be activated within 90 days from the date the business/company is successfully registered with ACRA. Instructions for activating your reserved domain name:
Step 1
Visit the participating registrars' website for information on their pricing and packages. You may choose to add other services such as web hosting, web design or email services with the activation of your domain name.
Step 2
Choose the registrar with a package that best suit your needs. Provide the chosen registrar with the following information for them to retrieve and validate your reservation details. For businesses: ACRA Registration Number and NRIC number of any of the business owners For companies: ACRA Registration Number and NRIC number of any company shareholders or directors

1. Who will qualify for the S$30 discount?
All business/company that are registered with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) on/after 1 January 2011 can qualify for the discount on condition that they reserve and activate their domain name within 90 days (names reserved before 19 Dec 2011 will have a three months deadline) from the date the business/company is successfully registered with ACRA. For example, if ABC Pte Ltd is incorporated on 1 June 2011, they can enjoy the discount if their domain name is reserved and activated by 29 August 2011.
2. How do I reserve a domain name?
Upon successful registration and payment for your business (including limited liability partnership or limited partnership) or company registration via ACRA’s BizFile system, you will be shown the option to reserve a domain name immediately. To reserve a domain name: (a) First check if the domain name (ending with ".com.sg" or ".sg") you want is still available for reservation. (b) If it is still available, you will need to provide your name, contact number and email address to confirm the reservation request. SGNIC will use this information to contact you should SGNIC require any clarifications. Once you have reserved your domain name successfully, you will need to "activate" your domain name with any participating registrars. 3. If I miss the opportunity to reserve a domain name via BizFile, can I still reserve a domain name?
Yes, you can approach NewMedia Express Pte Ltd, Web Commerce Communications (Singapore) Pte Ltd or Webvisions Pte Ltd to assist you in your reservation on condition that: (a) You reserve and activate the domain name within 90 days from the date your business/company is successfully registered with ACRA; and (b) You provide the participating registrars with a copy of your Biz Profile (with information on the date of incorporation and NRIC of the owners/shareholders/directors) and a copy of the NRIC of any of the owner/shareholder/director for verification.
4. Can I reserve more than one domain name?
You can reserve only one domain name for each business or company in Singapore.
5. Can I reserve a "org.sg" domain name?
No, this promotion is for “com.sg” and “.sg” domain names only.
6. How much does it cost to reserve a domain name?
No fee is charged for reserving a domain name (ending with ".com.sg" or ".sg") via ACRA's BizFile system (www.bizfile.gov.sg). To use the domain name, however, you will need to "activate" the reserved domain name with any participating registrars. 7. What happens after the reservation period?
If your reservation was made via ACRA's BizFile system and the reservation period has ended, your reservation will lapse if no activation was made and you will not be entitled to the $30 discount. In addition, that domain name will be available for registration/reservation again by any party on a first-come-first-served basis.
8. I have forgotten whether my reservation period has ended. What should I do?
If you have reserved the domain name via ACRA’s BizFile system, go to www.sgnic.sg and type the domain name in the “Whois” box. The "Creation Date" will show the date the domain name was first reserved. The reservation period will end 90 days from the "Creation Date". Alternatively, you may approach any participating registrars or contact SGNIC hotline at (65) 6659 2534 or email [email protected] to seek clarification.
9. Do I have to pay after the reservation period ends?
No, there will be no penalty payment for not activating your reserved domain name.
10. If I have reserved a domain name via ACRA’s BizFile system, how do I activate the reserved domain name?
To activate the domain name you have reserved, please approach any participating registrars with the following documents/information: (a) For Businesses: Your reserved domain name, ACRA Registration Number, and the NRIC number of any of the business owners. (b) For Companies: Your reserved domain name, ACRA Registration Number, and the NRIC number of any company shareholders or directors.
11. I have forgotten the domain name that I have reserved. What should I do?
If you wish to activate your domain name, but you are unable to recall the domain name that you have reserved, please approach any participating registrars with your business/company's ACRA registration number and NRIC number of the owner/shareholder/director. Alternatively, you may also contact SGNIC hotline at (65) 6659 2534 or email [email protected] for more information. Please have the ACRA registration number and NRIC number of the owner/shareholder/director on hand to facilitate our checking.
12. What if I want to change the reserved domain name?
You may do so with NewMedia Express Pte Ltd, Web Commerce Communications (Singapore) Pte Ltd or Webvisions Pte Ltd. Please provide them with a copy of your Biz Profile (with information on the NRIC of the owners/shareholders/directors) and a copy of the NRIC of any of the owner/shareholder/director for verification.
13. How much do I have to pay to activate the reserved domain name?
For this promotion, there are 7 participating registrars whom you can choose from to activate your reserved domain name. You may wish to find out more about the plans offered by these registrars and chose the plan that will meet your needs. The price may vary according to the plan you have selected. If you qualify for this promotion, you will receive a discount of at least S$30.
14. How long will the promotion last?
The promotion will be available from 1 January 2011 or until further notice from SGNIC.
